Tandberg Video Teleconferencing

The Tandberg video teleconferencing company is a public telecommunication company that specializes in video conferencing (of course).

Their services are extensive, however, they still will be mentioned below. This company was founded by Vebjorn Tandberg in 1933 and headquartered in Lysaker, Norway.

The current Chiefo Executive Offer (C.E.O.) is Odd Johnny Winge. As with other video conferencing companies this company is also a subsidiary company.

The parent company of this corporation is Cisco. Several publications stated that it is one of the fastest growing video conferencing companies in the industry with an emphasis on telepresence ability.

This company does business in over 90 countries with over 1400 employees worldwide. One of their first offices was in Oslo, Kjelsas. This office specialized in making reel to reel tape recorders.

They expanded their product line around 1960and started producing television sets.

This led to another plant being opened in Skedsmo, Kjeller specializing in television production. The company eventually went bankrupt in the late 70's and the Cheif Executive Officer (C.E.O.) lost control of the company.

As a result he committed suicide. However, Tandberg (the company) reinvented itself under 3 different branches to specialize in television, data, and radiofabrikk.

Tandberg created their first picture telephone in 1989. They expanded to the United States in 1995 and opened offices in Connecticut then moving to Virginia.

Eventually they established another office in Texas. In 2005 the desktop videophone phone was launched by Cisco but branded by both Cisco and Tandberg.

In 2008 the Tanberg E20 was introduced in to the market as a personal video conferencing system.

Cisco bought Tandberg in 2010 and Tandberg was officially owned by Cisco in 2011. The Tandberg video teleconferencing company is listed among the top video conferencing companies in the world with a revenue of over 900 million dollars (US).

Their competitors in this industry are Polycom, Radvision and LifeSize Communications.
