Benefits

Some of the benefits of telemedicine and ehealth include:

  • Limited Travel Time - The number of medical visits between patients and medical professionals per year is outrageous.

Even though teleconferencing between a patient and their doctor wouldn't decrease the time spent on each call. You'd probably spend the same amount of time on each session that you would spend in a real appointment.

However, there would be no transportation required. This would be ideal for those with physical disabilities or limitations that stop them from making the trip.

  • Teaching - Telemedicine can also be used as an instructional guide. This is not only used for lecturing purposes.

It is also used to perform live surgeries, procedures, or operations to a group of students for visual purposes. Telemedicine can allow you to visually see and communicate with your health care provider.

However, this alone can't monitor the progress of your health or take your vitals.

As with anything else, this has pros and cons.

However, for now, there is more praise than dislike for the telemedicine industry when people think about their answers to the question What is telemedicine?
